Walking with the Poor

Message from our Parish Priest

Dear Parishioners,

This year is the Diamond Jubilee of the Church of St. Ignatius in Singapore. If you have seen our Parish Feast Day video, you will know that our Parish has an exciting line-up of events to celebrate this Jubilee all the way until end July 2021.

Yet, what is a Jubilee celebration really about?

In Leviticus 25, we are reminded that the Jubilee is a year of mercy and justice. In our Catholic Tradition, we receive this mercy of God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and for this Jubilee year also specially through the Jubilee Door of Grace.

But having received this mercy, how can we share the generosity of our Lord this Jubilee?

In line with one of the Jesuit Universal Apostolic Preferences, our Jubilee will be focused on “Walking with the poor and excluded”. This will be a reminder for us to recall the generous mercy of God, and share that generosity with those less fortunate than us.

Our Parish’s selected beneficiary for this Jubilee is Morning Star Community Services.

About Morning Star Community Services

Morning Star Community Services is a charity that aims to enrich and strengthen family relationships. They provide afterschool care, counseling, family life education workshops and other programs to help families thrive in harmonious relationships. Our goal is to fundraise at least $60,000 to help support Morning Star in their efforts. Family is so important and we at St. Ignatius really value the work that Morning Star does and want to do all that we can to help our brothers and sisters in our community.

We understand that times are hard for many people right now. Even so, we hope that if you are able, you will still consider donating generously to this cause and help Morning Star achieve its vision to build vibrant communities through empowering families.
